We go to the Orient

On August 17th we went on a 17 day escorted tour to the Orient. After arriving at Tokyo's Norita airport, we were greeted by the local tour representative. After the tour person located all the people on the tour (16), we were bused to our hotel in Tokyo. There we met Susan Weeks. She would be our tour guide for the whole trip. The tour included five destinations: Tokyo, Beijing, China, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Thailand, and Singapore. The people on the tour were Jean Beers from Greens Fork, Indiana; Nadine Hahne from Dover Plaines, New York; Eileen McCue from Staatstburg, New York; Judy Wirges from Hopewell Junction, New York; Raki and David from South Brunswich New Jersy, Catherine Holmes from Glendora, New Jersey; the Putcha family Ram, Vasundhara, Sarada and Veena from Livingston, New Jersey; June Swenson from Garden Grove, California; Yuri and Nataly Visman from Nazareth Illit, Israel and our tour director, Susan Weeks is from San Francisco, California. It was a pleasure meeting and touring the Orient with such a fine group of people. ---- As an old Chinese proverb says, "When you look like your Passport picture it's time to go home.

Singapore

The name Singapore derives from the Sanskrit Singa Pura, ‘City of the Lion’.
Situated in south-east Asia and lying just north of the equator, the Republic of Singapore
is separated from Peninsular Malaysia by the narrow Johor Strait (1km or 0.6 miles wide),
crossed by a causeway. A number of smaller islands are included within its boundaries and
a few kilometers to the south are islands belonging to Indonesia.

And so we come to the end of a very wonderful trip and to our friends that we met we leave you with this Irish Blessing:

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine upon your face
May the rain fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand
